I didn’t dream of being an IT recruiter but a series of choices led me here. I like people, I am a good listener and I have always had a sense of wanting to help others - so it's been a good career decision.
My IT recruitment career started in 2011. Like most people at the time, I was attracted to the progression opportunities and incentives, but I rapidly understood that money isn’t what gets results in this game. It’s good service, listening, and caring.
My life changed in 2017 when I lost my Mum suddenly to cancer. It made me question life, and things that previously motivated me felt hollow and meaningless. I have since lost my Nan to cancer and two of my aunties have thankfully survived it. However, my wife has recently lost a cousin and her Dad is terminal.
I know firsthand the impact diseases and loss have on family and friends, and the far-reaching ripple effects - and I want to help! I appreciate I am a small cog in a big machine, however, the actions and contributions of many eventually add up to something special. And by working together we can all make a difference.
Sometimes bad things happen, and you have to be brave - to me, this means looking for the good that can be created from these experiences.
As the late Steve Jobs said…
“You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever.”
Today, I am in the fortunate position to have found my ‘why’. My mission is to connect people with companies and career opportunities that positively contribute to humanity.
My goal is to partner with organisations that are creating pioneering ways to extend and save the lives of people affected by life-threatening diseases.
When I’m not in the office, you will most likely find me cooking for my wife lol, spending time with friends and family, reading a book, or in my garage playing with my motorbikes.
